If you have never had a professional massage, it is natural to feel a little unsure. What do you wear? Do you talk? What if the pressure is wrong? This guide walks through a typical first visit, step by step, so you can arrive feeling relaxed.
Step 1: Booking your appointment
Most spas in Secunderabad, including ours, take bookings by phone or WhatsApp. When you get in touch, mention:
- The service you are interested in — or simply say it is your first massage and ask for a recommendation.
- Your preferred day and time.
- Any therapist preference.
- Injuries, allergies, skin sensitivities, pregnancy or medical conditions.
This is also the time to ask about session length and price. Your appointment is confirmed only once the spa replies to confirm it.
Step 2: Before you arrive
- Eat lightly — a heavy meal just before a massage can be uncomfortable.
- Allow time for traffic so you are not rushing. Arriving stressed makes it harder to relax.
- Skip strong perfume, especially if you have booked aroma therapy.
If you are coming to Diamond Wellness Spa, look for Himalaya Book World near Pillar No. 1199 on Sardar Patel Road, Shivaji Nagar. We are on the 3rd floor of the same building. Our contact page has a map and directions link.
Step 3: When you arrive
You will be welcomed, and the team may confirm your treatment and ask a few questions about your health and preferences. Be honest — this helps your therapist keep you comfortable. You will then be shown to a private treatment room.
Step 4: Getting ready for the massage
For oil-based massages such as a body massage or Swedish massage, your therapist will explain how to prepare and step out while you get comfortable on the massage table under a towel. You are covered throughout, and only the area being worked on is uncovered. For Thai massage, you may stay in loose clothing — ask when booking.
Step 5: During the massage
Talking is optional
Some people like to chat; most prefer silence. Either is fine. The only thing you should always speak up about is comfort.
Speak up about pressure
If the pressure is too strong, too light, or a spot feels sensitive, say so. Therapists expect and welcome this feedback.
Let yourself relax
Breathe slowly, let your body feel heavy, and do not worry about 'helping' by holding your arms up — the therapist will move them for you.
Step 6: After the massage
- Take your time getting up; you may feel a little light-headed if you were deeply relaxed.
- Drink some water.
- If you had firmer pressure, mild tenderness the next day can be normal.
- Think about what you enjoyed, so you can ask for it again next time.
Questions first-timers often ask
Which massage should I book first?
Swedish or a classic body massage is usually the most comfortable introduction. If you know you like firm pressure, consider deep tissue massage. For a side-by-side comparison, read Deep Tissue vs. Swedish Massage.
Can I stop the massage if I feel uncomfortable?
Yes, always. You are in control of your session.
